WCYC Family Camp
Summer 2024

A camp for all ages!

Saturday, August 3 thru Wednesday, August 7

Director: Jenny & Anthony Neal and Karen & Tom Hill

Welcome!

Welcome to Family Camp! The summer session of 2024 is going to be a great one, filled with God, friends and family! We’re so excited that you have decided to check out what Family Camp is all about and we’re prayerful that you will join us this year!

Family Camp is a unique WCYC camp session where all families of any configuration are welcome! Families come together to study God's word, soak up the natural beauty of Fallhall Glen and enjoy all that WCYC has to offer. Family camp is a structured camp session that includes Bible studies, camp games and sports, crafts, nature walks, swimming in the creek, campfire devotionals, great food and amazing fellowship. Everyone is welcome, so register early before the price jumps!

This year's theme is the Fruits of the Spirit, out of Galatians 5. These traits are called the "fruits of the spirit" because just as fruit grows from a healthy tree that is planted in good soil and watered regularly, these nine traits grow in our hearts when we stay connected to Jesus and let his Spirit guide our lives. We'll study how these traits can help us deepen our connection with Jesus, with our families and even with our communities.

Things to Know

Check In/Check Out

Family Camp Check In starts at 3pm on Saturday, August 3rd. Check in at the Great Hall and grab your cabin assignment, welcome packet and first aid kit. Check out is after breakfast and Whole Camp clean up on Wednesday, August 7th.

Nurse’s Cabin

There will be no nurse for Family Camp. Parents, please come prepared to administer any medications your family might need. Should the need arise, we will have access to supplies within the Nurse’s Cabin.

Cleaning Duties

As a service to WCYC Family Camp, families will be asked to sign up for Dining Hall cleaning duties a few times throughout the week. They will also be asked to clean their cabins and sign up for a 1 or more Camp clean up slots on the last day of camp (such as bathrooms, lodge, Great Hall, grounds, etc.) All cleaning supplies will be provided!

Meals

3 delicious camp meals are provided each day. These meals are prepared and cooked by our wonderful kitchen staff! (if anyone is interested in joining our kitchen staff please email the directors at family.camp@wcyc.org) If you have a food allergy, please let the directors know, so that we can pass it along to the kitchen staff. Another perk of Family Camp is that there is a staff fridge in the Dining Hall, that you may store some food items in, such as snacks for your littles). Please do NOT take food to your cabins.

Flexibility

Because of the nature of Family Camp, there is a lot of flexibility involved. If your family has a need, such as nap times, you are more than welcome to fill that need as you see fit. Otherwise, we ask that all families participate in any and All Camp activities.

Free Time

Free time is just that, free time. You and your family are free to choose how you spend those afternoon hours. Most likely there will be a group planning to swim in the creek during those hours. You may also hang out on the Hill, play games in the dining hall or lodge, create masterpieces in the craft cabin, etc.

Swimming

There is no lifeguard on duty during Family Camp, so parents must be with their children in the creek. Creek attire is modesty at the core, so please cover your bodies with appropriate swimsuits or shorts and a t-shirt!

Crafts Cabin

The Crafts Cabin is open but is not staffed. Parents, please monitor your children in the craft cabin, to ensure respect of WCYC’s property, assist in the clean up process and monitor any possible unsafe crafting such as hot glue guns, nails and hammers or wood burners.

Canteen

The canteen will be open in the afternoon. Each family will run a tab throughout the week and then be asked to pay the balance at check out!

Camp T-Shirt

All Family Campers will receive a Camp T-Shirt with this year’s logo on it!

Camp Rules

Family Camp Rules match the rules of all other camp sessions. Please be respectful, kind and loving towards everyone!

What To Bring

Here are some suggestions of things to bring: flashlights, bug spray, suntan lotion, swim suit, towels, water shoes, Bible, notebook, pens/pencils, board games, snacks, tennis shoes, bedding/sleeping bags, pillows, etc.

Things to Leave at Home

Here are some things you should leave at home: weapons, bad attitudes, electronic devices, inappropriate clothing, etc.

Family Talent Show

There will be a Family Talent Show during Family Camp again this year! Come prepared with an act to perform together. In the past some families have sung songs or danced, performed skits, magic shows and so much more!
