The lodge at Fallhall Glen, one of our oldest buildings and the center of many activities dear to campers, is in need of major restoration. the foundation is deteriorated and some of the bottom logs are rotted. Thanks to a generous response to our fundraising drive, the $40,000 dollars needed for the repairs was raised and the work has begun.
Below are some photos of the beginning of the project. Watch this page for progress updates.
Tunneling under the building
The lodge is lifted and temporary beams hold it up while the new foundation is prepared and poured.
Cement trucks roll in and pour the forms to create the new foundation for our lodge. Notice the two rows of new logs at the bottom of the lodge. They replaced rotted logs.
Foundation walls are poured under the lodge which will soon be set back down on this new foundation.
Finally she is back on a firm foundation which will support the grand lady of our camp for many generations to come. Our lodge now is on solid footing which will provide more space underneath for classes, recreation, meditation, and a mural gallery (stay tuned). There is much work to be done: electrical, windows and screens, bat proofing etc., but she is resting firmly for the winter.
