WCYC Facebook Cause
One of the ways that W.C.Y.C. is establishing an online presence is through the social networking website, facebook.com. There are several different ways in which WCYC is highlighted on facebook, including the various “groups” which have been started by campers and/or staff members during the past couple of years. In addition to all the groups and photo albums which are presently on facebook, WCYC is also being promoted in an official capacity through what is known as a Facebook Cause.
A Cause is a great tool made available to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in order to help promote their organization to people all over the world. WCYC now has its own Cause page on facebook, serving the camp in several unique capacities. First, it is a place where those already familiar with WCYC can connect, receive camp news and announcements, post pictures, and communicate with one another. Second, the Cause for WCYC is a significant means of advertising and promotion of the camp that is both free and far-reaching, especially since those who join the WCYC Cause are able to feature WCYC on their personal facebook profile, which in turn introduces all of their facebook friends to WCYC and directs them to the Cause.
Another great benefit of the Cause is that WCYC is able to receive online donations, a feature made available to anyone who visits the page. This is a free method of fundraising for WCYC with great potential.
The Cause for WCYC on facebook is an easy and effective way for all of us to be more involved in promoting our beloved camp, in recruiting new campers, and in raising the much needed funds which translate into life-changing camp sessions year after year.
